Product Description
In this amazingly timely story about what the wealthy do when Wall Street lays an egg, the author of Gilding Lily once again delivers a witty and insightful treatment of today's woman, as she explores the sacrifices they make, the bargains they strike, the rules they follow, and what happens when it all starts to fall apart. Who could have guessed that Wall Street would go south just as Marcy Emerson and her husband moved east? Down to earth Marcy relocated from Chicago to New York when her husband was offered a big time job as a hedge fund manager. She gives up her own jobafter all, hedge fund wives don't work! And while at first it's fun to shop all day and party all night, Marcy quickly learns that life among the rich can be anything but easy and that behind every smile can be a stab in the back. Still, it's not until her husband leaves her for his thinner, blonder mistressa woman who is higher up the social ladder than the original Mrs. Emerson will ever bethat Marcy decides to stand on her own two feet once again, and fight for the things that are far more important than money.

Great Beach Read May 3, 2010 If you like books skewering the super-rich (and who doesn't?) this is for you. It reminded me a lot of Sex In the City-- juicy, scandalous, glitzy and addictive. The heroine Marcy is an Accidental Hedge Fund Wife (there are seven types of HFWs) and by far the most sympathetic character in the book. She's the perfect narrator for a story about what happens when Wall Street goes bust. (Answer: Everyone makes like ostriches and puts their heads in the sand.) My only complaint is that I wished the book was longer. A real page-turner. Lots of fun. The kind of book you can read in a day.
Overall satisfaction - Hedge Fund Wives April 12, 2010 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Great book! Interesting story, great if you are interested in society life and fashion.
Simply average January 5, 2010 I liked the "inside" peek at the lives of the wealthy NY women. I also appreciated their pointed denial about the economic downturn happening all around them. However.....the ending was just too predictable. A great chunk of time is just skipped over....there was no development, just poof...it ends...everything all wrapped up. I suppose the author became tired of her characters and was ready to push away from the computer. I've read better, cuter chick-lit stories. Don't pay for this book. Get it free from your library. You won't want to keep it.
Great quick read! October 3, 2009 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I purchased this book because I wanted something light. What a fabulous book the author has dome a great job of jumping right into the story line. She also moves it along at a good pace and captures the characters emotions to where you feel the pain and joy. Also she develops all the characters so at the end you're not left wondering what happens next.
Loved this book! September 29, 2009 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
This book was so awesome that I could not put it down! I enjoyed reading about New York society and the interesting lives these people lead. This book draws you in, and you feel like you are right there with the characters.
Tatiana Boncompagni is a talented writer. I also loved her book Gilding Lily. I hope they make a movie out of these two books. I am anxiously awaiting her next book!
